How about talking about the equipment and such that a newbie would need to know about to work at home? What are the pros and cons for working at home? Do you use EScribe or know of something that is better? I just want to chat about transcription!

Well, I've worked for the same company for 6 years and used their platform that whole time. I do think that it's always better to use your own computer if the company will let you. That way you can use your own reference materials on the computer, which saves time, it's much easier to use a program than flipping through a book. You also can use whatever sites you find that have good information and save them in your favorites or bookmark them. I also always use my own footpedal and headphones. All of this is tax deductible, and then you don't have to pay the company for using their equipment. Every transcriptionist has their own preferred method of finding information. Time is money with this job, you can't spend a half hour researching one drug or medical term if you want to make money, which is why I like to use the Internet for research the most.
