I'm a newbie to Active Words. I've been futzing forever of this, I think it is probably pretty simple, except for me....
When I start a chart note for a doctor, I have to pull up a document template let's say it is called "Chart Note". Then I transcribe the report, but now I need to "Save As" so I don't overwrite my original "Chart Note". Is there a way to do this in Active Words?
Thanks to you so much!

Hi, This site has a lot of tips and tricks on different expanders, word, etc. It might help you. www.productivitytalk.com/forums You will have to become a member, but it really is a good site for all macros, expanders, word, etc.

This will get you started:
1. Tell ActiveWords you want to add a new ActiveWord. 2. Select "Scripting" and click "Next." 3. From the list of commands on the left, choose (double click) <ALT></ALT>. 4. <ALT></ALT> will appear in the "Action" box on the right. 5. Since in Word, the keyboard command to "save as" is Alt +FA, edit the command in the "action" box so it looks like this: <ALT>FA</ALT>. 6. Enter a description in the bottom right box where it says "Enter a description for this action." Then click "Next." 7. Name your action word and enter it into the appropriate box. You can name it whatever you want. This will be the word you enter to launch the command when you want to use it. You do want to check the confirmation flag box. 8. Click "Finish."
Let's say you named it sa. To launch it, type sa and then press F8 (the default confirmation flag).
Voila! Your very first scripted ActionWord! Just take your time with it, read the help files, and experiment! When you script, you always want to go figure out what the keyboard command is for the thing you want to accomplish. The keyboard command is what you will script in ActionWords.
Have fun with it, but realize you won't become a master scripter overnight. It takes time, so be patient with yourself. AW can help you do so many absfab things that it's worth it in the end!

I have a question. I do not know how to use word proficiently, which I need to so that I can get things done so much quicker then building each report from scratch and using "auto correct" or "auto text". Is there somewhere that is good in "detail" on learning to use templates?
I am a very bright individual, but I do better when someone explains something to me, rather then reading "stereo instructions". I only have to have someone show me once, but in this line of work, I don't have that luxury.
So, is there any sites that are good in explaining word better then the "help" in MS WORD? LOL
