You know the animated graphic I have at the top of the main page of the forum? The one that's currently a mouse? Well, one of our members told me that the mouse was "jumping around," causing her to lose her place on the forum. She'd start to click on a link, and when the graphic moved, the whole page would jump. That had never happened to me (I use Firefox), so I experimented a little bit . She uses IE, so I fired up IE and took a look. Sure enough, the animated gif is causing the page to "jump" because the image is causing the borders of the "news" section (which is where the code for the graphic is located) to decrease and increase with the size of the graphic as the graphic appears and reappears. In Firefox, the borders don't resize; the graphic just sort of "floats" atop the surrounding borders. Okay, so I'm thinking, well, it's an IE thing. However, I asked another of my buddies who uses IE to take a look at it. She said no, the borders didn't change as the graphic changed, that everything was fine. The odd thing is that the original member, the second person I asked to look at it, and I were all using the same version of IE, version 6. I could understand if it were just some difference between Firefox and IE, but why would it look different to folks all using the same version of IE? If I'm not explaining this well (which is entirely possible!), please slap me with a smiley and tell me to give more information. Thanks, guys!

Just so you know I'm looking into it. It jumps in IE7 too! I just haven't had a chance to look at mine. I was living with it until I had a quiet moment. Now I will check it out! Maybe Sue can pop in here, although I know she is using FireFox too!

I just checked it out in IE7 and it sits in the border in the news section. It does cause the boarders to change and the page to jump. In Firefox, it sits atop the entire section. Since I cant see the code or formatting, I dont know if I can help or not. It might be an IE thing. I use Firefox myself. I love that little graphic.

Hi Rennie, Dawn, & Sue... I use IE6 & the graphic causes my page to jump around too. (The lil leprecaun had the same effect.) I have no idea of the solution but I am glad to know it's not just my whacko computer.

I truly think it is an IE thing. Every browser is different.
