I haven't downloaded the new IE7 and still have been working with IE6. But when I am doing CS work I am always on FireFox. My question is, is it safe to download IE7? Has it had all its "bugs" worked out? I just don't want to download it and then find out that hubby or I can't get it to work. What are the pros to IE7? Does it work a lot like FireFox? Sorry for all the questions. I already had to computer crash once, and I don't EVER want that to happen again. TIA.

My personal experience with IE7 was brief and ended with controlsa+altsa+deletesa.....
I still prefer firefox to explorer. My personal experience is that whenever, and I truly mean whenever, I open IE at all, I get instant crap on my machine. I have proven it time and time again by running adaware pro and spybot search and destroy before I open IE and get clean scans, then running it again after I close it and getting at least one thing on my machine. I don't like crap on my machine because it slows it down. I know exactly what it's capable of at any given time, and anything to the contrary (spamware and malware) messes that up. Now while I don't think it will cause your PC to crash, it can slow it down or add things you didn't really want added.
As with all of my advice/opinions, YMMV (your mileage may vary). Everyone has their faves...some people swear by microsoft, others swear by open source...I say use what works, if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

I have been using IE7 for about 3 months now, and haven't had any bad experiences, except those that Jhayd mentioned above i.e. spyware and other crap. I quit using FireFox because my tabs decided to quit opening, and instead of trying to figure out why, I did the logical thing and switched to IE again. I did start dabbling in FireFox again yesterday, and I do like it much better. Hopefully, it will behave now.

Well, over my hubby's cold, dead body will my compouter have IE7 on it. How's THAT? LOL He's my "computer tech" and he has literally FORBID it on my machine for now. He switched me over to Firefox a couple of years ago and I haven't looked back. I still need IE to get into DocQManage (one account I work for uses the DocQScribe platform), and sometimes some sites won't let you view it without IE, so I keep IE6 on the computer.
Even the kids' computers (they each have their own) are running Firefox.
Oh yeah, he's also banned Microsoft Outlook from this house. LOL We use web-based e-mail or Eudora as our e-mail client.

I swear by MS Outlook and love it. It keeps my life organized. I also sync everything to my Treo. As for browsers, I love my FireFox. I do have IE7, just because it came with my new Vista computer. I use it only if I have to. Just my 2 cents worth.
