This "merger" totally sucks. Talk about the fox watching the hen house! Not to mention the only thing I think that AAMT ever did right (write) is the BOS. They have stuck up for the little MT so much.. NOT! They need to be helping newbie MTs get into this profession with more than barely passable skills. They need to be helping experienced MTs make more than a pizza delivery guy. The pizza guy puts in less hour, needs less training, etc... and makes as much as some MTs working 10 hours a day.

here, here, I agree wholeheartedly. It seems that with voice recognition, we are not worth as much anymore to our employers. It used to be that a hospital transcriptionist was invaluable. Not anymore. The numbers are all that matters to them, or should I say the almighty dollar is what matters to them and if their turnaround times are less than 24 hours. You can forget quality - they just want quantity. I'm afraid this profession is in the process of dying out. We cannot even make a decent living anymore or keep up with the cost of living. I used to recommend people get into this field. Not anymore. I'm becoming a dinosaur.
